Forgive each other

Matthew 18, 21-35

PETER HAS ONE QUESTION. HE ASKS JESUS: „MY BROTHER AND MY SISTER DID SOMETHING WRONG. HOW OFTEN SHOULD I FORGIVE THEM? SEVEN TIMES?"

THE MEANING OF „FORIGVE“:
IF TWO PEOPLE ARGUE, THEY CAN SAY „SORRY“ AND FORGIVE EACH OTHER. NOW THEY LIKE EACH OTHER AGAIN. THEY ARE HAPPY.

ONE EXAMPLE:
ONE MAN MOCKS AT SOMEBODY. HE REALISES: THAT WAS WRONG! HE SAYS TO THE OTHER MAN: „I AM SORRY! THAT WAS WRONG! PLEASE FORGIVE ME!“ THE OTHER MAN SAYS: „I FORGIVE YOU!“

ANOTHER EXAMPLE:
ONE MAN MOCKS AT SOMEBODY. HE DOES NOT REALISE THAT THIS WAS WRONG. BUT THE OTHER MAN CAN STILL FORGIVE HIM!

JESUS SAYS:
„NO, SEVEN TIMES ARE NOT ENOUGH! YOU HAVE TO FORGIVE ALWAYS!“

JESUS TELLS A STORY: „THERE IS A KING. HE CONTROLS HIS MONEY AND WHOM HE BORROWED MONEY. ONE MAN COMES TO THE KING.“

„THE KING LOOKS AT HIS LIST. HE SEES, THAT THE MAN HAS BORROWED A LOT OF MONEY. HE TELLS THE MAN: 'GIVE ME THE MONEY BACK!'“

„THE MAN IS DESPERATE. HE TELLS THE KING: 'PLEASE BE PATIENT! I WILL PAY BACK THE MONEY LATER!'“

„THE KING IS FILLED WITH PITY FOR THE MAN. THE KING SAYS: 'YOU DON'T HAVE TO PAY THE MONEY BACK! YOU ARE FREE!''“

„THE MAN IS RELIEVED AND HAPPY. HE DOES NOT HAVE TO PAY THE MONEY BACK!“

„HE IS RELIEVED. SUDDENLY HE SEES A MAN. THIS MAN HAS TO PAY BACK A SMALL AMOUNT OF MONEY.“

„HE IS VERY ANGRY. HE RUNS TO THE MAN AND GRABS HIM BY HIS THROAT. HE TELLS HIM: 'PAY MY MONEY BACK! NOW!'“

THE OTHER MAN SAYS: 'PLEASE BE PATIENT! I WILL PAY BACK THE MONEY LATER!' BUT THE MAN IS STILL ANGRY AND SAYS: 'NO! GIVE ME THE MONEY BACK NOW!'“

„MANY PEOPLE SEE THIS. THEY RUN TO THE KING. THEY TELL HIM EVERYTHING. THE KING IS VERY ANGRY!“

„THE KING SAYS TO THE MAN: 'I TOLD YOU, THAT YOU DON'T HAVE TO PAY BACK YOUR HUGE DEBTS. BUT YOU WANT THE MAN TO PAY BACK HIS SMALL DEBTS? THIS IS SO WRONG!'“

„THE KING IS VERY ANGRY. HE PUNISHS THE MAN. HE HAS TO PAY BACK ALL THE MONEY!'“

JESUS SAYS: „GOD ALWAYS WANTS TO FORGIVE!“

JESUS SAYS: „GOD FORGIVES YOUR GREAT DEBTS AND YOUR SINS. THE DEBTS OF OTHER PEOPLE AGAINST YOU ARE SMALLER. YOU HAVE TO FORGIVE THESE DEBTS AS WELL!“
